Frequently asked questions about the APK
- When does my car need its first inspection?
- For a petrol, electric or hybrid car the first APK is due four years after first registration, then every two years until the car is eight years old, and annually after that. For diesel, LPG or CNG the first inspection is due after three years and then every year.
- How early can I have it done?
- You can have the inspection up to two months before the expiry date without losing validity. The new expiry date is counted from the old one, so being early costs you nothing.
- What does an APK cost at Garage Bos?
- You hear the price in advance, and we call you as soon as the inspection turns up anything that needs attention. We often fix small points on the spot so you do not have to come back.
- Where does this data come from?
- Straight from the open data of the RDW, the authority that maintains the Dutch vehicle register. We do not store your number plate.
